Building on the foundation of their critically acclaimed work, Terri Lyne Carrington + Social Science return with Trip the Night Fantastic, a powerful 13-track collection that serves as both a musical sanctuary and a call to action. Originally commissioned for the Visualizing Abolition Initiative, the album explores a vast landscape of social justice themes, including women's empowerment, gender identity, climate justice, and the abolition of punitive systems. Through a series of evocative collaborations, the album celebrates the resilience of the human spirit.

“Children’s Song” speaks to the unfair treatment and environments that children face globally. It highlights children that have been either targeted or caught in the crossfire of wars. It speaks to the heinous nature of child trafficking. And it speaks to children being displaced from their homes and/or parents due to immigration deportation. Minimally children should be protected from abuse, exploitation, neglect and involvement in armed conflict. The United States is a notable exception in having signed but not fully ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child treaty.
